The committee for the Draft Horse Youth and Novice Congress met to discuss our plans for the event based on concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. We received information from the Dane County Fair that they plan on making a final decision whether or not to proceed with the fair in early to mid June. Since so many other events have already been cancelled, we want to wait to see what the fair committee decides. We will have our event if the fair goes ahead as scheduled. Because of this uncertainty, we expect there to be some changes. We may eliminate some aspects of the congress to save money.
We aren't expecting to get as many donations with the uncertainty of the event, which will make things more costly for us. We likely will eliminate premiums and may have to make other changes. We have discussed combining classes, eliminating the pizza party, and eliminating some clinics that are more costly. We also want all of our volunteers to feel comfortable participating. We fully understand anyone who does not wish to participate in light of the situation. It is impossible to know what the situation will be in July. We ask for your understanding, as this is a very fluid situation. We will continue to update our facebook page and website as we receive more information. We will be updating the due date for registration in the coming days. Please give us your feedback via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would appreciate it if you could let us know if you plan to attend, assuming congress goes as scheduled
Draft Horse Youth / Novice Congress is held in conjunction with the Dane County Fair at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison Wisconsin. This state-of-the-art facility is a perfect venue to bring together young people and novices with experts in the Draft Horse Industry.
Congress begins with 2 days of seminars and practice which lead into an opportunity for everyone to show what they have learned. We stress safety and building skills for success in a supportive environment.
